Admitted through And E at 7am Monday. Kept in ambulance for about 5 hours but looked after wonderfully by paramedics for who m nothing was too much trouble. Seen by very kind and thorough young doctor whilst still in ambulance . Withyybushad urgent mri. Found to have extensive metastases. News was broken very kindly. By 5.00pm had seen consultant and transferred to ward 10 where despite coping with post weekend rush was looked after very well. Cut long story short had to stay until Friday but kept informed and reassured. During this stay I had chest xray, mri, ct scan and flexi sigmoidoscopy. This last was extremely frightening for me but Iwas wonderfully supported by the endoscopy team. All the staff I had dealing swith on ward 10 were very good and not afraid to show human warmth and professionalism plus teamwork which can only be down to good leadership. I saw specialist nurses. All emphasised that I would be in control and Iwas even shown my chest and brain images which were a shock but at least Iknew the truth. The only slight criticism I have is that messages about me didnt always get handed over. But given the pressure they were under this was understandable. The other thing was the amount of paperwork imposed on the nurses. My pathway changed several times . During this I was always kept informed . I do believe if you are sensible and reasonable and appreciate the pressure that the staff are under you will not be disappointed. All in all the care at Withybush was far better than I received in a well known west country hospital.

Although the nursing staff were wonderful with my 95 year old mother the, doctor treating her was insensitive didnt seem to know anything about her entitlement to a proper review so that good decisions about future care could be made. It seemed he just wanted her out of hospital but without due care and attention tog what was best for her.

I would like to thank all the night and day staff in the Day Hospital. They went above and beyond during my recent stay.

My nan was admitted to the hospital by her gp.. She was struggling to breathe! As She have bowl cancer which has spread to the liver and a tumour in the stomach!! They did more tests and couldn't "find" anything.. we waiting 4/5 hours for a bed! Be refereed by her GP should've been made priority! ... we had a visit saying it had spread to her bones as well but yet we was not told?? We went to singleton to find out what cancer and how bad but they did not share all the information!!! Even withybush should've said when she had the test there!!!! So horrible poor families!!! Can trust any of the doctors! They do not talk amongst each other to know the patients... that will cause something bad one day! .... Then they said she could have kemo?? And then she couldn't? And then she could again and then We got a phone call 2 days ago saying she couldn't!! The communication between the hospitals are disgusting!!! This needs to be addressed as families hope are being let down and back up so many times. I am very angry at how my nan has been treated how She has been messed around!!!

Arrived at A & E at 3.45 p.m. on Tuesday 24th January having fallen off a ladder and badly fractured my wrist. I was dealt with quickly at the reception desk and waited about 15 mins before being dealt with by a triage nurse. Her manner was both brisk and sympathetic - I was swiftly despatched to x-ray where the staff quickly diagnosed a bad break requiring manipulation and plastering. At all times I was kept informed of my condition and options and was attended by a trainee junior doctor accompanied by a senior A & E doctor, together with a staff nurse and the plasterer, Terry. Whilst undergoing a fairly traumatic process of manipulation of the limb, the professional and caring approach demonstrated by all staff reassured me and made the experience bearable together with a liberal dose of entanox! Our beleaguered NHS needs people to speak up for the hardworking, dedicated staff and show appreciation where it is due. Thank you for the support and expertise shown to me.

2nd attempt to leave review as earlier one removed. Both parents died at Withybush and both their stays and terminal paths shameful. If anything wrong with you go anywhere else in world rather than Withybush for assessment and treatment. Shameful in all resoects

I had a lung cancer diagnosis in January 2013, I was told by a consultant at this hospital that there was not much hope but we would try some chemotherapy, when I asked about radiotherapy as well he said no I don't think so but we will try some perhaps later on, but definitely too late for any surgery. I left this place that day and went to Guys hospital in London, they did lay it on the line, this tumor was stage 3b but, " the way forward with this cancer is chemotherapy and radiotherapy together, very aggressive treatment but statistics show increasing success also depending on the success of the treatment an surgery would be possible and it would give me the best possible chance of a full recovery!! I had chemotherapy along with radiotherapy and a lobectomy in October 2013 and I am now 2 years out of treatment with7 clear ct scans behind me, Take my advice and if you are seriously I'll get as far away from this place as you possibly can, if I had stayed there I wouldn't be here today everybody is entitled to a second opinion.
